MOUNTAIN BIKE DESCENT

Being open for 8 months of the year, the Pic du Jer is an outstanding place for mountain biking.

With a global reputation, thanks to the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup and its black trail, in the space of a few years the Pic du Jer has become a very popular training site for mountain-biking enthusiasts and competitors.

EQUIPMENT

EQUIPMENT

Mountain bikers must have a specialist downhill mountain bike; hybrid bikes and city bikes are prohibited.

Helmets must be worn. 

The following equipment is strongly recommended: back protectors, elbow pads, shin/knee pads. Gloves are highly recommended.

An extra highlight:

- water jet available for washing your mountain bike

- Small tool hire (Allen keys, pump, etc.)

Information: mountain bike hire: Bike and Py, located at Avenue du Paradis in Lourdes (500 metres).

Blue trail : a fun downhill "flow trail" for intermediate bikers. Starting point: Upper station of the Pic du Jer funicular. Gentle slope - Length: 4km - Descent: 450m

Red trails : Downhill Red: Downhill trail for experienced bikers. Starting point: Upper station of the Pic du Jer funicular. Moderate slope - Length: 3km - Descent: 450m

Enduro Red : an enduro route for experienced mountain bikers which takes you to the other side of the Pic du Jer. Starting point: Upper station of the Pic du Jer funicular. Length: 9.5km - Descent: 700m - Ascent: 210m

Black trails : Downhill Black: technical and challenging downhill trail for experts and competitors only. Starting point: Upper station of the Pic du Jer funicular. Steep slope - Length: 2km - Descent: 450m

Enduro Black : Technical enduro route for expert mountain bikers only. Starting point: Upper station of the Pic du Jer funicular. Length: 6km - Descent: 700m - Ascent: 220m

Experienced mountain bikers: All mountain bikers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult

Ascent in funicular every 20 minutes between 10am and 5.20pm (6.20pm over the summer period) subject to availability (maximum 12 bikes per car)

An extra highlight : a mountain bike patrol from the Bike and Py team is on site to offer help, guidance and information.

Downhill mountain biking experience: downhill mountain biking experiences (beginners or improvers) are regularly organised at the Pic du Jer. The aim of these experiences is to allow you to move forward, enjoy yourself to the max and improve in a safe environment under the guidance of a professional who will offer technical advice adapted to your individual needs.

Trail opening dates :  Special opening dates for the Christmas holidays: the mountain biking trails will be open from 20 December 2019 to 5 January 2020 inclusive (closed on 25 December 2019 and 1 January 2020).

Weather conditions : opening of the trails will depend on weather conditions.

Bike & Py comprises a local team of bike lovers with a wealth of experience in event organisation (FFC French Cup, UCI Mountain Bike World Cups, enduro mountain biking challenge, etc.) and, in the case of some, several years' experience of competitions. Their aim is to offer you a personalised service and all the equipment you need to enjoy yourself to the max and forget everything else apart from biking and enjoying the landscape.


Bike & Py also acts as a partner of the Pic du Jer to operate its mountain-biking trails.

A mountain bike patrol from the Bike and Py team is on site at the Pic du Jour to offer help, guidance and information.
