Discover Fauna and Flora

DISCOVER FAUNA AND FLORA

THE BOTANICAL TRAIL AT YOUR OWN PACE:

coming out of the funicular's arrival station, there is a paved path for 2/3rds and the last third over rocky terrain to take you to the summit of the Pic du Jer (incline of just under 100 metres). 16 panels illustrating local flora are spaced along the trail leading to the summit and offer a general introduction to the mountain flora.

 HÉLÈNE'S GUIDED WALKS

Every Wednesday in the summer period Hélène is on hand to help you uncover all the secrets of the local fauna and flora. This educational walk along a rural path shaded by hazelnut trees and spruce is sure to enchant both the young and the young-at-heart. On her walks, Hélène will share all of her knowledge of the local flora and fauna. One minute you might be crouching down to discover plants and their medicinal properties, while the next you will be gazing skyward to observe birds of prey.  She will also show you some of the specific features of the "Pays de Lourdes" landscape surrounding the Pic and will help you to identify the high peaks of the Pyrenees. The walk is an opportunity to relax together and gain a fascinating insight into the local nature.
